Hoffberger School of Painting will host a panel discussion, Rethinking Painting with Jutta Koether, Nancy Princenthal, Raphael Rubinstein, and Barry Schwabsky moderated by program director Joan Waltemath. A fall show of Hoffberger current students work will follow in the Riggs Gallery in the Lazarus Center.

    The 2015 symposium explores the various facets of "Black Lives Matter," a phrase exposing the enduring legacy of racial disparities, particularly in the criminal justice system in America. With recent scandals of police brutality and misconduct, and subsequent protests and national dialogue, panelists will discuss different analyses, approaches and strategies for understanding and challenging systemic racism in America.

    MICA's largest undergraduate graduating class received degrees at its May 18, 2015 Undergraduate Commencement, where more than 460 undergraduate students were awarded their Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees at 1 p.m. Anxiously awaiting family and friends formed a guest line half-looped around the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall where they filled the 2,443 seat venue.
